Everything changes ... here is my firstborn, Dylan, at one month of age. After he came along the focus of my photos changed from scenery and animals to family photographs.

I loved my goats. They were the best pets I ever had--unfortunately they were also very destructive. We had to get rid of them after they ripped the sides off our aluminum hay shed.

These water lilies, photographed at Big Springs Gardens a few miles east of Sierra City, CA, are reminiscent of a Monet painting. In fact the whole place is a lot like a Monet painting, complete with arched bridge.

The destruction wrought by the 1980 eruption is still astonishingly obvious. Here is a broad view of the crater and mudflow.

This very strange place indeed is called 'The Devil's Postpile.' Also in the High Sierras, The Devil's Postpile is a rare geologic formation of what is known as 'columnar basalt,' created by a lava flow that occurred between 100,000 and 700,000 years ago.

This old ghost town is in the High Sierras, northeast of Yosemite. It is an eerie little place, described as a 'genuine California gold-mining ghost town,' kept in a state of 'arrested decay.' Once populated by 10,000 people, all that remains now are a handful of old buildings, many of which still contain their original contents.

A couple of years after we met, Martin and I went back to England for Christmas. Martin is originally from the Portsmouth area, and his family still lives there. This palace is one of the many historical sites we visited on our trip.
